Important Notes

  • High-altitude route; requires prior high-altitude trekking experience and excellent fitness
  • Crossing the 4900m Riwuqie Pass is extremely demanding
  • No mobile signal on most of the route
  • Full camping gear required: tent, sleeping bag, stove
  • Weather is volatile; snowstorms and sharp temperature drops are possible
  • Hiring a guide or joining an organised group is strongly recommended

Getting There

Bus from Chengdu Xinnanmen Station to Kangding, then charter a vehicle to Laoyulin trailhead.

Supplies & Accommodation

Supplies: No resupply along the entire route. Carry 5 days of food and fuel. Stream water available but must be purified.

Accommodation: Wild camping throughout. High-altitude tent and sleeping bag required (comfort rating -10°C or below).
